Many questions have came out this week dealing with New England Patriots’ all-pro tight end, Rob Gronkowski, who was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a back injury. Gronkowski is a vital piece to their offense and most people knew that losing him could be detrimental to their team. The Patriots need someone to step up for them at the end of this year, and they may have already found their answer.
Rookie wide receiver, Malcolm Mitchell, from the University of Georgia, has had three consecutive impressive games. During those games, he’s had 15 receptions for 222 yards and 3 touchdowns. Even as a rookie, Mitchell has gained trust from Tom Brady as seen by being targeted multiple times on third down situations. If Mitchell continues to gain more reps and develop, he can be a factor for the Patriots in the playoffs.
Gronkowski is a huge part of the Patriots’ offense and he will definitely be missed, but Malcolm Mitchell could end up being his replacement as a playmaker on their team.
