Last Wednesday the Indiana Hoosiers fell to the #19 Utah Utes in the Foster Farms Bowl game in San Francisco, California. The final score of the game was 26–24. This game marks the first time Hoosier coach Tom Allen debuted as a collegete head coach and was the second year in a row that the Hoosiers lost their bowl game by a field goal. My MVP of the Foster Farms Bowl game was running back Joe Williams. Williams, who came out of retirement this year, rushed for 222 yards and had one rushing touchdown. Another standout player for the Utah Utes was quarterback Troy Williams. He passed for 178 yards but had no pass completions for a touchdown. Standout players from the Indiana Hoosiers included quarterback Richard Lagow who passed for 188 yards and had one pass completetion for a touchdown. Another standout player for the Hoosiers was wide receiver Mitchell Paige who had 42 receiving yards including a catch for a touchdown. The final record for the Utes improved to 9-4 and the Hoosiers record declined to 6-7. While the Hoosiers have made steady progress under previous head coach Kevin Wilson and will benefit from numerous returning players next year, the future of the program remains uncertain. Since Wilson’s departure after the last regular season game, new head coach Tom Allen has yet to make any coaching changes. It will be interesting to see what happens within the Hoosier football program in the off season.
