Another regular season is in the books where the Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had to tell packers fans to RELAX. After a season scare in 2016, the Packers rallied to win a wild card spot in the playoffs finishing the regular season off with a last second hail mary prayer from Aaron Rodgers to Richard Rodgers to beat the Detroit Lions. This season the Packers had dropped four straight games to the Atlanta Falcons (33-32), Indianapolis Colts (31-26), Tennessee Titans (47-25), and the Washington Redskins (42-24). Not only was the team losing at the time but getting pounded by the Titans and the Redskins, leaving the Packers organization and fan base devastated and worried. It was certainly a time where nothing could go right for the packers on either side of the ball.
It is without a doubt that for the past few seasons the Packers defense has been struggling. Every team has injuries throughout the season but nobody takes that in consideration. If they do, they will state that every team has injuries with a “no excuses” type of attitude. I’m here to tell you that it does make a difference. Last season the offense struggled as well and missed out on their star receiver Jordy Nelson. But needless to say, they still had Aaron Rodgers who is surely on his way to a hall of fame career. Aaron Rodgers will do his thing by being a play maker and as long as the defense pulls it together, the packers will always be a playoff contender.
This season nobody could figure out why the the Green Bay Packers weren’t winning, they had Jordy Nelson back, “they had it all”. Truth is, the Green Bay Packers didn’t have it all, missing out on multiple key defenders during their four game losing streak including star defensive end Clay Mathews. As the season progressed more and more defenders became healthy and the offense was flourishing. Team work eventually put together a packers 5 game winning streak to put the NFC North on the table in Detroit. It was just another case of Aaron Rodgers telling packers fans to RELAX.
Detroit had been impressive this season, winning 6 games in a row, all fourth quarter comeback victories! The Lions set a new record for the most single season fourth quarter comebacks in the history of the NFL. Detroit was about to make history again this season by clinching the NFC North division for the first time in a staggering 23 seasons. The Lions certainly looked favored but the Packers pulled their selves together just in time to spoil their division championship hopes with a 31-24 victory in Detroit. Although it wasn’t as magnificent of an ending as last seasons hail mary, it was just as sweet winning 6 games straight to steal the division championship. Never doubt Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, relax every one.
