The Seahawks will have to play the rest of their season without their all-pro safety on the field. Earl Thomas went down early in a Sunday Night Football game against the Carolina Panthers with a leg injury. Thomas broke his tibia as he collided with teammate Kam Chancellor. He broke up the pass, but what followed was devastating to all Seahawks fans. Thomas was lying on the ground in evident pain surrounded by trainers and teammates.

Earl Thomas is arguably the best safety in the NFL, and he is very important to the Seahawks defense. Without him, they lack the athleticism and playmaking ability he has at free safety. About 30 minutes after the injury, he tweeted that he might Think about retiring. Thomas is only 27 years old, which would be a very early retirement for a safety. Though this does not mean he will retire right now, it will be interesting to see how he will prepare for the future after his surgery.
